Kratom and Energy Drinks

Kratom and Energy Drinks: How Do They Differ?

People live fast today. Everyone needs a bit of energy rush to get through the day. That’s why people often turn to various supplements and energy drinks. But is that healthy, and how much effect does it have?

Well, energy drinks are tasty, but they can be harmful to your overall health if you consume them frequently. However, kratom is a natural supplement. Coffee and energy drinks are full of caffeine, which is not the case with kratom.

So, why do people often confuse kratom with energy drinks? Yes, kratom can be an energy booster, and it can help you wake up feeling refreshed, but there are many differences between energy drinks and kratom.

Read on to learn about some characteristics of kratom and understand the difference between energy drinks and this rising natural supplement.

Introduction to Kratom

As we already said, kratom is a natural, herbal product. It comes from the Mitragyna Speciosa tree – or, more specifically, its leaves. The tree grows in several regions of Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, and Malaysia.

It has recently become favored in Western culture, although people have used it as a natural stimulant and medicine in Asia for centuries. The primary reason why it became so popular is its wellness and health support.

Kratom has a lot of different strains and types, each with red, green, and white varieties. They are typically named after their regions, such as Vietnam kratom, Bali kratom, and Maeng Da kratom.

All the strains have different effects and unique properties, depending on the alkaloids they contain. The most notable include mitragynine and 7-hydroxy-mitragynine, responsible for the therapeutic properties of kratom.

Kratom doesn’t contain caffeine!

Kratom usually comes in a powder form, made from harvesting and crushing kratom tree leaves. Kratom powder can be consumed in several different forms. You can consume it in a variety of ways, such as adding it to tea or any other hot or cold beverage or taking pre-measured Kratom capsules.

Most energy drinks contain stimulant ingredients like caffeine and sugar, and they have very high amounts of caffeine. However, kratom is free of caffeine.

The tree belongs to the coffee family, but it doesn’t contain caffeine, unlike coffee and energy drinks. Its main alkaloids (mitragynine and 7-hydroxy-mitragynine) have stimulative effects, but they are not as harmful as caffeine can be when you consume it frequently and in large doses.

Kratom might be more beneficial than energy drinks!

Energy drinks serve only to provide stimulative effects and keep you energized and awake. Kratom also offers similar results, but that’s not the only benefit you can enjoy while consuming it.

People typically use it because of its therapeutic and medicinal properties. Although it has caffeine-like properties, it can also help you improve your overall health and well-being. Here are some of the most significant advantages it may have over energy drinks:

  • It can be very effective in relieving all types of chronic pain.
  • You can use it as a supplement to improve focus.
  • It can help you balance emotions and avoid frequent mood swings.
  • Some kratom strains can help you overcome insomnia and sleep better.
  • Kratom can simultaneously relax you and give you a burst of energy.

Most importantly, unlike energy drinks, the effects of kratom last much longer. Energy drinks can give you a boost that lasts a maximum of 2-3 hours. However, kratom acts slowly and gradually, and it stays in your body for up to six hours.

Energy drinks are not natural products!

As already stated, kratom is a natural product that doesn’t contain additives, chemicals, and other harmful ingredients. Unlike kratom, energy drinks are not organic, and they have a lot of unhealthy ingredients.

The main ingredients of energy drinks are sugar, caffeine, taurine, niacin, ginseng, and guarana. Of course, none of these ingredients are harmful if you consume energy drinks once in a blue moon. But if you consume them frequently, they can damage your general health.

On the other hand, kratom leaves are not industrially processed. To make a kratom-based product, people dry and crush the plant’s leaves, turning them into entirely natural powder.

Conclusion

As you can see, although both products have stimulating effects, kratom and energy drinks are pretty different in many ways. The most notable refers to kratom being a natural, herbal product, while energy drinks are all but natural and contain high levels of stimulants. If you want to boost energy levels by using one of these products or even mixing them, consult kratom experts or your physician.
