Amazfit Ares vs Amazfit T-Rex, we compare the SUVs of Huami

Last day 19 Huami presented its second smartwatch focused on outdoor activity, the Amazfit Ares. A smartwatch that supports 70 sports modes and FIRST BEAT professional sports analysis. This new watch will go on sale in China on June 1 at a price of € 65.

A very notable decrease in price compared to the hitherto most complete smartwatch in the Huami range, the Amazfit T-Rex whose price is € 130. So what are the differences between these two watches intended for an outdoor activity?

Design

Unlike the traditional design that we find in the T-Rex, the Amazfit Ares uses a design octagonal Innovative with lines that give it a robust appearance. In addition, the Ares is equipped with a 1.28-inch reflective color screen with square shape. This screen will allow us to see it better the more intense it is in the light as well as in the Amazfit Bip.

For his part, the Amazfit T-Rex keeps the circular screen design of 1.3 inch already present in the GTR. But its style offers thicker lines giving it a strong character with a military appearance. Not for nothing has it been able to pass the certification for this use.

As for the straps, despite the fact that both models are equipped with the same type of strap, their mechanism for changing them is different, so they are not compatible with each other.

Sports functions of both Amazfit

As both the Amazfit T-Rex and the Amazfit Ares are smartwatches designed for outdoor use, their sports modes are focused on those sports to perform outdoors.

The Amazfit T-Rex watch is equipped with a high-end Sony GPS chip and a double precision positioning system. Furthermore, the structure of the watch is optimized to improve the signal and offer more precise positions. This smart watch features 14 professional sports modes.

For its part, the Amazfit Ares significantly improves the list of sports modes, increasing the list to 70, among which are: walking, cycling, swimming, dancing, boxing, ball games and other categories of sports. At the same time, it is capable of monitoring and recording 40 key exercise indices, such as heart rate, speed and altitude.

Furthermore, the FIRSTBEAT algorithm present in the Amazfit Ares allows you to provide a variety of very interesting data for professionals, such as maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max), full recovery time, training load (TL), training effect (TE) and etc. These data will allow the user to improve their physical exercises and to avoid injuries caused by excessive exercise.

There is no doubt that in the sports aspect the Amazfit Ares is really more attractive. But it’s worth noting that for a professionally focused outdoor sports smart watch, it’s also very important to be able to withstand all kinds of environmental conditions. Conditions that Amazfit T-Rex can overcome thanks to its certification military STD-MIL-810G.

Health functions

In terms of health, both Amazfit Ares and Amazfit T-Rex are equipped with BioTracker PPG biometric tracking optical sensors developed by Huami Technology. These sensors are capable of accurately monitoring the heart rate during exercise, understanding the state of exercise and allowing us to avoid risks during our physical activity.

In addition, the Amazfit Ares is also equipped with the Huami-PAI health assessment system. This system is capable of digitally representing the state of our physical health based on our heart rate data, combined with the intensity of daily exercise and the comprehensive evaluation of our physiological data.

Autonomy

The Amazfit series has always shown its efforts to offer smart watches with a greater autonomy than the competition. Of course these two models were not going to be less.

The Amazfit Ares is capable of providing autonomy of up to 14 days in daily use mode. Duration that can be increased up to 90 days in basic usage mode. In physical activities that require intensive use of GPS this autonomy is reduced until 23 hours .

For its part, the Amazfit T-Rex is capable of providing autonomy of up to 20 days with everyday use. In its basic mode it is capable of holding up to 66 days working. And in its continuous GPS mode it can provide us 20 hours performance.

Despite the fact that the T-Rex mounts a battery of greater capacity, its autonomy is reduced by the use of energy from its best GPS and its AMOLED screen.

Conclusions

Based on the comparison above, I think the difference between Amazfit T-Rex and Amazfit Ares is very clear. The Amazfit T-Rex is focused on very intensive use in harsh environments offering the sports modes that can be performed in this medium. Meanwhile he Amazfit Ares improves its performance for professional use offering a greater variety of options with a more attractive price that is reduced by the use of a more basic GPS chip but focusing its hardware on improving physical monitoring.
